This is how I got into The Push Stars:
on WMVY - I heard 'drunk is better then dead' - I of course had heard j'unk is better then dead' - and it was at a particularly bad time in my life - and it sounds silly - but the line "before you put that gun up to your head, remember what the drowning man said, a little drunk is better then dead" - totally made me feel let off the hook - that the stupidity that was in my life was forgivable and understandable.
I was living up on Martha's Vineyard at the time, and I did see a show they did at the Hot Tin Roof (2000) - and it was bad, but I then went on to see them in Washington DC where they ROCKED - I caught them in NYC and would have seen them in New Paltz - but I am not into driving in snow.
The lyrics are incredible - another piece caught me 'Yes I feel bitter, and yeas I feel sore - but she was just a young girl who drifted ashore' - I was like YES that is how I feel here on this bitter little island 'These ghosts dont sing there motionless, theyre telling me its over - its over' - It helped me let go and move right the hell on.
Anyway at their shows - I try to bring them cookies or cake and such - I really do love the music

Additionally, I'd like to mention to other fans:
love you guys
