before i even heard or knew who the hell Jason Mraz was, i heard this song on my car radio in late 2002, and wanted to learn more. since then i had been a loyal Mraz fan. This is the best song ever written. it never fails to make me want to sing along, and play it over and over again |

sleep all day. written summer 99 atop my roof watching the planes land over lindberg feild, san diego. d major 7th echoed the pitch of the engines rolling over shadowed on the runway by the cruise ships parked along the harbor, i wanted to round out the progression with an almost love boat sounding quality. i was doing nothing at the time i wrote that song. nothing as in, my days began around four in the afternoon, just enough time for breakfast and the sunset. i felt guilty, but remembered how lucky i truly i had it. what would my parents think? (always on my mind) i thought they'd be proud too. i was doing what i had set out to do and was loving it, doing it well. the song also became a reflection of failed relationships rememebering the good times and that i survived, and an optimistic song about the future from the now point of view that everything gets better on it's own. until then, i'd just sleep all day. that or i had mono. |
